Glee Makes Its Comic Debut

It’s the news of the century. Not ashamed to say that I fangirled so hard because I obvs love Glee but I also love Archie Comics. Yes, Archie Comics. This sensation comic company has been going strong since 1942. It’s all about a red-headed teenage boy named Archie Andrews who lives an ‘average’ teenage life with his gang of friends. I own over 100 Archie Comic books and I have read them all over 20 times each. The characters are lovable and the plots are funny and it’s such a great comic. If you haven’t read them, I think you should.
Anyhoo, this year at ComicCon, where both Glee and Archie had a panel, Jon Goldwater, the co-chief executive officer for Archie Comics said that the Glee cast (Rachel, Finn and Kurt, at least) will be making a appearance in the hit comics in a 4-issue crossover. It’s cool because like the Glee cast, Archie Comics is full of diverse characters. Archie Comics are always trying to keep up with the style (as their characters never age) and they have done many crossovers like this with the likes of Kiss, The Punisher and The Ninja Turtles. They have also had a gay character named Kevin Keller, who recently made his debut.
In the story, Archie and his friends have a band too, called The Archies. Hopefully the Glee people will sing a song or two with them!
So long story short, I am super excited for this crossover, which will happen soon. Writing was said to commence either late 2012 or early 2013. Either way, I can’t wait! For a Gleek and Archie fan like me, this is a dream come true! 🙂
