Amber Riley, The New DWTS Champ

I said I wasn’t going to watch it. I had made the executive decision not to. Though I was excited for Amber, dancing shows aren’t really my thing, and I wasn’t going to tune in. But then, I did. When the premier episode of Dancing With The Stars aired, I found myself with nothing to do at that time, so I watched it. And from then 0n, I weirdly never had anything better to do at that time. So I watched the whole season. And on top of that, I was an active voter. All for Amber, of course. And if the title of this post didn’t make it obvious enough, yes, Amber Riley did win, with her super talented parter, Derek Hough.

Last night, as I healed from the emotional rollercoaster that is Agents of SHIELD, I watched the DWTS finale. There were three couples left in: Jack and Cheryl, Corbin and Karina, and Amber and Derek. I had predicted that it’d be between Corbin and Amber, because Corbin (yes, Corbin from High School Musical) was a good dancer, and in the end, it did come down to that. But before then, all 3 couples had to do a dance that involved two dances in one. Amber and Derek had the Quickstep and the Samba, and their dance got a perfect 30 score!

Out of the two hour finale, only an hour and a half of it was relevant to the finale, as there was a bunch of performances (Lady Antebellum was good) and the kicked off dancers danced again. Amber and Derek also did an encore dance because we voted for it on Twitter! Either way, by the time all the dances were done and it was time for the final results, I was shaking so bad. And when Jack and Cheryl got kicked off, leaving Amber for either 1st or 2nd, I was near tears (with joy!). And after a tortuous commercial break and a dramatically long pause from the hosts, Amber and Derek’s name was announced and I cheered and clapped and was so happy. Amber was thrilled too and freaked out.

All in all, I think I speak for every Gleek in the world when I say that we are so freakin’ proud of Amber. Not only did she prove that people of all sizes can be fab dancers, but despite a knee injury she persevered and came out on top. Her and Derek were always getting awesome scores and destroying their competition. So good job Amber!

Flying high: Amber celebrated her win with her former competitors surrounding her

Look at that. Look at that winner. So happy. I am so happy for her. I think everyone wrote her off at first because of her size, but they were so wrong! And never underestimate the power of dedicated Gleeks, as we voted for her and supported her every (dance) step of the way! Team Roughley for the win!

And with that concludes my experience with Dancing With The Stars…unless someone else from Glee is on next season or something. Again, congrats to Amber and Derek. 🙂 That’s all for now!

P.S. Dianna Agron has also been busy. She stars in The Killers’ new video ‘Just Another Girl’ which you can check out here. I’m not a fan of her hair here though. Check it out!
